Celebrated New York City jazz artist Wycliffe Gordon is in Sri Lanka to premiere a special composition commissioned by the U.S. Embassy celebrating 70 years of U.S - Sri Lankan partnership (#USASL70).
Gordon will perform at a gala concert as part of the cultural events planned under the #USSL70 campaign which underscores the seven decades of respect and partnership that have characterized the U.S.-Sri Lanka relationship.
Wycliffe is a renowned musician, composer, conductor, and arranger. He is a veteran member of the Wynton Marsalis Septet and an original member of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. The Wall Street Journal named his show "Jazz a la Carte" one of the five best moments in jazz history. He is currently an Artist in Residence at Georgia Regents University in Augusta, Georgia.
Gordon and his International All Stars will tour Sri Lanka February 24 to 28, staging performances and master classes in Colombo, Galle, and Matara, bringing this truly American music genre from across the sea.
