Pippa Middleton, the younger sister of the future queen of England, was married on Saturday.
Ms. Middleton, 33, who grabbed headlines at the 2011 wedding of her sister Catherine, dazzled in spectacular lace-bodiced, high-necked wedding gown created by Giles Deacon. Her face was covered with a delicate bespoke tulle veil dotted with pearls and made by milliner Stephen Jones.
"I was thrilled to work with Pippa on her wedding dress," Giles Deacon said of his collaboration with Middleton. "The dress is constructed with a cap sleeve, high neckline and features a corseted bodice with draping to the front and a heart-shaped detail at the back."
"The bespoke silk cotton lace was hand appliqued to create an illusion of the dress having 'no seams'."
"The lace bodice is embroidered with pearl detailing over an organza and tulle underskirt, which has layer upon layer to enable a floor-sweeping movement. It's a privilege to show the craftsmanship that my team produces in London and a real testament to Pippa's support of British fashion," Deacon added.
The bride also wore a Maidenhair fern tiara by Robinson Pelham, the Middleton family's go-to jeweller, and ivory satin pumps by Manolo Blahnik with pearl detailing, a customised version of the label's £715 Seneca bridal heels.
She wed James Matthews, 41, a wealthy financier and former racecar driver, at St. Mark’s Church in Englefield.
It surely was a royal affairr, which the British tabloid media have described as “the wedding of the year,” in a ceremony attended by the next generation of Britain’s royal family.
The wedding party included Ms. Middleton’s nephew, Prince George, 3, who served as a pageboy, and her niece, Princess Charlotte, 2, a bridesmaid. Prince William, Prince Harry and the tennis star Roger Federer were among the guests.
