World leaders invited to the UN Wesak Day celebrations in SL in 2017

Many world leaders have been invited to the first ever United Nations' Wesak Day celebrations to be held in in Sri Lanka.

The main event of the Wesak Day celebrations will be held at the BMICH on 12th of May next year.

Minister of Justice and Buddha Sasana Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe today declared open a secretariat to organize the activities of the United Nations' Wesak day celebration. The secretariat is located at 115 Wijerama Mawatha in Colombo.

Speaking at the event, the Minister said number of heads of states have been invited to attend the UN Wesak day celebrations and representatives from a number of countries are expected to attend the ceremony.

Over thousand representatives from India, China, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos, Tibet, Bhutan, Mongolia and other countries where Buddhism is practiced will participate in the event.
