Supported by the Singapore Tourism Board since 1997, World Gourmet Summit (WGS) is one of Singapore's largest dining events. 21st WGS will be on March 20th to April 16th this year.
The highlight of the festival is a party at Chijmes on Apr 2, where there will be food and cocktail stations from all over the world and visitors can purchase gourmet dishes at S$10 each.
Chefs from Singapore and other Asian countries like Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Sri Lanka will be participating at this event and this year's edition of the festival is themed "United Nations of Gastronomic Assembly". There will also be countries participating for the first time such as Ukraine, Hungary and Mexico.
This gastronomy event will feature chefs from more than 16 countries, the highest number in the event's 21-year history.
Guests include Dutch chef Jarno Eggen from two-Michelin-starred De Groene Lantaarn in the Netherlands; veteran barbecue chef Ueli Bernold from Switzerland; and up-and-coming chef Daniel Ovadia, who helms a string of popular restaurants in Mexico.
From Asia, dessert whiz Kiriko Nakamura of the one-Michelin-starred Tirpse in Tokyo will showcase her sweet treats in a pastry masterclass and afternoon tea, while chef Dharshan Munidasa of Ministry of Crab in Sri Lanka will conduct a cooking masterclass. Darshan Munindasa, a well known celebrity chef representing sri lanka is the founder of Nihonbashi and the Ministry of Crab, two of Sri Lanka’s most successful restaurants, both of which on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants. He was the host of the popular TV series Culinary Journeys with Dharshan.
